On behalf of the SCTA, we couldn’t think of a better way to honor the passing of Matthew “Dezy” DiStefano and his incredible humanitarian efforts than to create a Humanitarian Heroes Award in his name. As educators, we have an incredible impact on every child we encounter and on the communities in which we work. I think we can all agree that Matt made a lasting impact on our Sachem Community!
Your SCTA NYSUT Delegates will be working hard to gain support from teachers unions across New York State to vote on the approval of this resolution. Creating this award is meant to not only honor Matt but to honor future educators across New York State deserving of recognition because they choose to support and help others over themselves!
